Robinhood Unveils New Suite of Financial Tools at "The Lost City of Gold" Event

March 27, 2025

Robinhood just wrapped up its second annual Gold keynote event, titled "The Lost City of Gold," where the company announced an impressive array of new services aimed at democratizing financial tools that were traditionally reserved for the ultra-wealthy. These announcements represent a significant expansion of Robinhood's ecosystem, with special benefits for Gold members.

Robinhood Strategies: Wealth Management Reimagined

The most immediately available new offering is Robinhood Strategies, which launched today for Gold members and will roll out to all customers in April. This isn't just another robo-advisor—it's a comprehensive wealth management service with some compelling features:

  • A low 0.25% annual management fee that's capped at $250 annually for Gold members, meaning you pay nothing on every dollar over $100,000
  • Active portfolio management combining ETFs and individual stocks based on your risk profile and goals
  • Interactive portfolio tools that provide detailed insights into performance and allocations
  • Regular market updates delivered via in-app written and audio communications
  • Monte Carlo simulations to project future returns
  • Tax optimization features including selective tax lot selling and year-end loss harvesting
  • Support for individual and retirement accounts (with joint accounts coming soon)

What sets Strategies apart is the team behind it, boasting over 50 years of combined Wall Street experience. Gold members who fund their account by June 30 will get their first $1,000 managed fee-free through the end of 2025, while non-Gold members will get their first $500 managed fee-free.

Robinhood Banking: Private Banking for the Masses

Building on the success of the Robinhood Gold Card (which is expanding to 100,000 more users this week), the company announced Robinhood Banking, launching this fall exclusively for Gold members. This service aims to bring private banking features to everyday users:

  • 4.00% APY on savings (9x the national average)
  • Access to estate planning and professional tax advice
  • 24/7 support and up to $2.5M in FDIC insurance
  • Premium perks including access to exclusive events and luxury services
  • On-demand cash delivery right to your doorstep
  • Family account options including children's accounts with spending controls
  • Comprehensive money movement tools and net worth tracking

When launched, the Robinhood Credit Card app will transform into your complete banking app, housing credit card, checking, and savings features in one place.

Robinhood Cortex: AI-Powered Investment Assistant

Perhaps the most forward-looking announcement was Robinhood Cortex, an AI investment tool coming later this year that aims to provide institutional-quality market analysis to everyday investors. At launch, Cortex will feature:

  • Stock Digests: Real-time explanations of why stocks are moving up or down
  • Trade Builder: A tool that helps translate your market outlook into specific trading strategies, particularly for options trading

While Cortex won't place trades automatically, it will provide the kind of insights previously available only to professional investors, helping users make more informed decisions.

What This Means For Users

These announcements represent a significant evolution of Robinhood's platform. By combining low-cost wealth management, private banking services, and AI-powered research tools, Robinhood is positioning itself as a comprehensive financial service provider rather than just a trading app.

Gold membership ($5/month) now unlocks an increasingly valuable suite of premium services, making it clear that Robinhood sees subscription revenue as a key part of its business model going forward.

For investors looking for more comprehensive financial tools without the traditionally high costs, these new offerings present an intriguing alternative to both traditional financial institutions and other fintech platforms.

As these services roll out throughout 2025, it will be interesting to see how they perform and how competitors respond to Robinhood's expanding financial ecosystem.
